menu_book Legislative Context & Public Impact

During the high-level October 2016 constituency review, MLA Smt. Gunda Lakshmi Devi convened more than 420 elected rural representatives from Self-Help Federations across Srikakulam. The assembly established direct institutional links between primary handloom weavers of Ponduru and formal state credit mechanisms, resulting in the disbursement of ₹4.2 Crores in interest-free micro-credit across 18 mandals.

The initiative successfully deployed upgraded solar-assisted charkha units to safeguard authentic fine-count Khadi carding traditions while guaranteeing fair price remuneration and healthcare coverage for artisan households.
